Quiet night hunting [Open] Silent11
Silentstep walked carefully around camp, her steps were light and noiseless, she didn’t want to wake up any of her clan-mates. She led her stare wander towards the moon, she had names for the phases and this, a few days later after the third quarter, she called the “crescent”. It had a nice ring to it, in her mind at least. She’d never heard another cat name the phases of the moon, not that they cared… the young she-cat lashed her tail in silent anger, they only bothered to name the full and the quarter moon. She craved to share her bizarre inventions with someone else, but who in this Clan would listen to her mute voice?

You shouldn’t blame them, a voice inside her head said. You were born mute after all… and acting out a word is exhausting… you gave up on that moons ago.

The same old pang of nostalgia hit her and she did what she always did: hunt. Swiftly she headed for the forest and its tranquilizing scents, desperately trying to drive away the rock that settled in her stomach. She could scent a mouse. With practiced precision she crouched down and slowly she approached her target. She was a good night hunter; she could see it, thin and distracted. A perfect pounce and a well-placed bite was all it took, the scrawny mouse was no more. Silentstep stared at it then at the stars and moon.

I’ve asked you a million times before… she thought to her warrior ancestors. But I have to ask again, StarClan, why did you take my voice? But the stars remained as mute as her.

The white light of the moon glinted down through the tree tops giving everything its own glow, it even seemed to make the shadows flee. A pair of cloudy blue eyes were fixated upon the moon, admiring its odd shape.
It looks as if one of Starclan's great warriors are unsheathing their claws, the tom thought to himself as he fixated his gaze back on the path that he was following and treaded on. His large paws fell hard against the frozen earth, Tigerstripe wasn't trying to disguise his presence at all he wanted to be heard. It was probably a naive move to go on a solo patrol, but the clan needed guarding and he wasn't tired anyways. The brisk night air of leaf bare was held at bay by his short, yet thick, amber and striped coat. As he padded along it gleamed in the white light of the moon, his large muscles rippling underneath it.
Suddenly, he smelled something odd. Opening his jaws he scented the chilly air, his breaths coming out in steamy puffs. It was the scent of a fellow clan mate, the scent was subtle and sweet but definitely Thuderclan.

Who's up at this hour?.... Besides me of course, he thought to himself as he padded after the scent.
Peering from behind some thick brush that's when he saw the silver she-cat making easy work of a mouse. Tigerstripe crouched down and remained there, not wanting to interrupt her.

Quiet night hunting [Open] Silent11

She stood there, motionless, waiting for some sort of answer… a twinkling star, a moving cloud, an apparition even. But again nothing replied back, she felt alone. With a sigh she stared back at her mouse and decided to bury it and hunt some more, she knew she wasn’t going to get any sleep tonight. So with the same careful and noiseless steps she hid away her mouse, when she was happy with the amount of covering she took a few steps back only to hit a bramble screen. When she unsuccessfully tried to untangle herself the thorns seemed to only dig deeper into her flesh, she cursed under her breath and even though her eyes reflected pain no noise came from her throat.
Silentstep, you mouse-brained fool! the tabby thought to herself. How are we going to get out of this one without injury? Injury, that sent shivers down her spine. She hated being hurt, it was deathly boring since she didn’t have the comfort of a nice chat to pass time. Besides, the idea of being deemed useless thoroughly frightened her. A mute cat who can’t even hunt… unforgivable! So again she tugged the tangle of brambles.

Quiet night hunting [Open] Juhd85

A large Maine Coon had settled himself on a tree, his head tilted in a 90 degree angle as he looked up. He was obviously thinking about something as he was looking at Silverpelt that lied above his clan, and everyone in the world. He didn't know how big that world was, and didn't care as long as the cats he knew today were in it. His green-blue eyes seemed to be clouded with thoughts as he was mainly thinking about if he was the right choice for the clan.

Many thought he wasn't for he was young and wasn't experienced enough. However, he had the urge to prove to them that he was experienced enough. It was only a couple minutes after this thought that he heard pawsteps, and thanks to his well trained senses over the years, he was able to hear the cat who was padding around during the nigh. He turned his head which reflected the light, almost making his eyes white as he watched the stripped she-cat. He didn't know her name, for a good reason at that because she was mute. Risestar though kept quiet as he sat there, wondering where she was heading off too.

Tigerstripe's cloudy hues watched the whole scene unfold before him: the she-cat staring up at Silverpelt, he could see in her eyes some kind of want or longing, the burying of the fresh-kill, and her sleek frame tangling in the bramble patch behind her. The thick bramble seemed like a snake that only wrapped itself tighter as she fought for freedom, the tom's stomach dropped as he knew the feeling of the piercing thorns in his pelt. His amber ear slightly twitched when the night air still remained silent, her eyes and body language screamed that she was in pain but not even a yowl escaped her throat.
Quickly, but carefully, he heaved himself onto all four paws and padded out from the underbrush. The warrior's long frame was glinted with the white light of the moon as he came out from the shadows, his cloudy blue eyes gleamed in the unnatural light. Tigerstripe padded slowly to the she-cat, not wanting to scare her. His voice was gentle and soft,
"Umm, hi... I can help, if you'll let me, these brambles can be a bit...tricky."
The tom struggled to find words as it felt eerie to break the silence of the night. Regardless, a friendly smile rested on his facial features as he spoke while his cloudy hues met hers for a moment. After which he began to slowly padded around the bramble bush, examining the best possible way to free the tabby without causing her more injury, his long tail flicking back and forth in thought. Tigerstripe was usually known as sort of an airhead, but when he set his mind to something he was surprisingly quite clever.

Quiet night hunting [Open] Silent11

Silentstep was about to give up and simply stand there, spend the night and hope the morning patrol passed by. Then she heard steps, careful steps coming from the underbrush. Odd… was the only thought that went through her mind. Who could be up at this hour besides her? So with twinkling, curious eyes she stared at the cat before her. His pelt glinted beautifully under the crescent moon and stars, for a moment the young warrior thought this was a warrior of StarClan sent to give her answers. Until she caught his scent, a familiar scent. She had seen him before, around camp and in some patrols, but just like any other cat of ThunderClan she preferred to ignore for the sake of sanity. He padded slowly towards her and with a gentle, soothing tone he offered her help. When their eyes met the tabby nodded, despite the shiver that went down her spine, and watched intently as he circled her, examining the mess of brambles and figuring out a way to get her out.

A warrior from StarClan… her ears twitched nervously. He does look like one… with his pelt glinting playfully under this starry sky…

The large tom finally stopped in front of the she-cat, his observation of the bramble had told him which of the branches were trapping the she-cat. Luckily, in leaf-bare the bramble was dead and dry so it would be a lot easier to remove than if it were alive. With a soft step towards the bramble patch Tigerstripe gingerly pressed in face through the bramble, making sure not to get himself stuck, and clamped his jaws around a stem of the bramble. The frame of his face barely fitting between the needle like thorns. He clenched in jaws tight, biting down on the dry stem until a snap echoed from inside his mouth signaling the stem had broken. Swiftly, Tigerstripe pulled his head out and repeated this with each bramble stem that was snagged into the she-cat's pelt.
His mouth was dry and filled with dryer flakes of bramble stem, along with a few fresh scratches on his skin when he was finished. Tigerstripe slowly padded to the side of the she-cat and slowly snaked his long amber, striped tail through the bramble and slightly lifted the broken stems off of her, giving Silentstep enough room to slink out.

"There you go," he said, his tone warm and friendly. A crooked smile rose on his lips, the same smile that always seemed to be on his face. Tigerstripe his whole life had always been obnoxiously friendly and happy, having this glow and warmth that silently radiated off of him.

Quiet night hunting [Open] Silent11

Silentstep’s paws were getting stiff and cold by the time the tom stopped in front of her, not that she noticed, her mind was full with newfound curiosity towards the stripped ThunderClan warrior. She tilted her head when he took a step forward and tried hard not to flinch at the sight of his savior sticking his neck inside the bramble screen. She held her breath until she saw the tom’s face again and felt the brambles loosening their grip. The tom repeated the process and all the while she stood frozen in place, not moving in case she bothered the tabby. When he was done he gingerly lifted the screen and swiftly the mute she-cat slinked out.

She flicked her ears in return and smiled shyly and gratefully at him. Silentstep twitched her tail in frustration, she wanted to say “Thank you” but she couldn’t… Suddenly she took a step towards the tom and slowly she licked his scratches clean. Her humble way of thanking him.

Tigerstripe's cloudy blue eyes intently watched the she-cat as she freed herself from the grip of the bramble patch. A huff of air escaped his lungs as the tom quickly moved his long tail out from under the bramble stems, with a snap the stems gave way and collapsed into themselves. With a flick of his freed tail the tom's cloudy blue hues found the she-cat once more, she already looked more at ease. He saw her lithe frame and silvery coat were covered with dark bramble bits and a few thorns remained snagged into her pelt. He could only think that he most likely looked worst as he suppressed a friendly chuckle. That's when he felt her warmth tingling on his fur and her rough, yet soft, tongue gliding on one of his scratches from the bramble's thorns. A soft smile landed on his facial features as he dipped striped head and began to lick her wounds clean as a silent "welcome". Not much was known to him about the she-cat, though he did know of her silence but he was unaware if it was by choice or by Starclan's doing. For once he actually enjoyed the silence, usually he couldn't stay quite, disturbing the peace of this auspicious night almost seemed unholy in itself. So he continued to lick her wounds clean and gently untangle bits of thorns and dried bramble from her silvery pelt.
